EVENTS AND COMPETITIONS  2013-2014

Kickoff:  This year kickoff was on Saturday, Jan 4th, 2014.  This is the day where many local teams (including ours) go to RPI and find out what the competition will be for that year.  Its very exciting that we all find out together.  We were also lucky enough to have Congressman Paul Tonko come and speak to us as well.  You can see the wheels turning as everyone sees that big ball that will need to be passed from robot to robot before getting a goal.  I was excited that the competition this year involved so much teamwork! Thanks to Congressman Tonko for coming and being apart of the excitment and supporting USFIRST.  And a VERY SPECIAL THANKS to RPI for everything they do to make this event happen and all the support through build season and the year.

Tech Valley Regional Competition:  March 14-15, 2014.  Team 4508 was proud to be apart of the inaguraul year of this competition which was held close to home for us at our beloved RPI campus in Troy, NY.  It was a great first year event and proved to be alot of fun.  We had some struggles with our robot but our students/mentors kept up with the challenge and made changes as needed so we stayed competitive.  Thanks to Angry Eric for coming and getting the Tech Valley Regional off to a successful start.  And a HUGE thanks to the committee that put in many hours and much of their free time to see this event unfold.  Lookin forward to next year!!!!!

Finger Lakes Regional Competition:  March 28-29, 2014.  Thanks to fundraising and sponsors, we were able to attend this competition as well.  With our solid drive team and pit crew, we were able to keep a good standing throughout the competition.  It's nice to see the team come together and work hard when needed but take time to enjoy all the fun and excitment that these competitions bring.  From the line dancing to the mascots to the team spirit--the enthusiasm is more than you would see at ANY sporting event.......after all.....it is the sport of the mind!!!!!!   Thanks to team 250 for coordination the hotels for several teams!!

Town cleanup:  Saturday April 12, 2014.  Team 4508 volunteered to assist with town cleanup.  We selected a road and picked up all the trash that had been left behind.  Not only does this help to beautify our town and mother Earth but also helps to spread the word amongst young people that littering is bad for the planet.  We are working to adopt a road that we can keep clean all throughout the year.  THANK YOU FOR NOT LITTERING!!!!!
